Micro Psychotic is/was the first single off Allá’s self released second album 2013s Feed The Dragon Vol One. After the universal praise of Allá’s first album released on Crammed Discs in 2008 Es Tiempo (an impressive 7.9 rating by Pitchfork) and string of high profile performances (showcases on both coasts) which even culminated with an appearance at Pitchfork Music Festival in 2010. Even working with Odd Futures’ PR agent Allá wasn't unable to find a wider audience. The label, PR agency and group scratched their heads and moved on, while Allá went back to the studio. The whole Es Tiempo era was during the dawn of the internet era. You still had to go to the record store to find new adventurous music.

Feed The Dragon was going to be different. Recorded during a very prolific time for the group (2010-2013). Modern Pop in Allá’s world would look back, forward and present. Infinite Pop music of the moment. Feed The Dragon took cues from the synth pop of their youth in particular the genius work of Janet Jackson/Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. The playful sampladelia of The Avalanches with a forward hip hop swing of J Dilla with the seductive quality of Burial. Sampling had always been a part of Allá’s music, Crammed Discs had asked them to remove a sample that was on an Es Tiempo track in fear of litigation. The trio wanted to reimagine the infinite possibilities of pop music. Pushing their sampladelic pop arrangements of melody, voice sound and rhythm to their limits. Embracing the power of the “undo” bottom gave them the freedom they needed to experiment without expensive studio costs. They self released Feed The Dragon online in 2013 with some local Chicago fanfare and a few high profile shows. Feed The Dragon was a massive departure from the all spanish lavish psych pop of Es Tiempo, it was all electronic, sample heavy and sung in a cut and paste style in english. Work continued in earnest on volumes two and three but in 2014 they abandoned the project, well they almost did.

With the birth of Allá's record label No Sé Discos in 2021, part of the mission of the label is to return to the past to complete unfinished projects and to bring forward neglected or suppressed culture. It made sense with the recent discovery of this massive cache of music, there’s been renewed urgency to fully realize the vision the group had for Feed The Dragon. COSMIC POP music made in obscurity has its own rewards

No Sé Discos presents 9 years to the day, the re-releasing of Micro Psychotic (single) mastered for the first time by Matt Dewine at Pieholden Studios in Chicago 2022.

A planned physical Feed The Dragon release is in the works for later 2022/early 2023 to be released on No Sé Discos.
